THANKS FOR VISITING THE 1CITY YOUTH PROJECT!

The 1City Youth Project is a non-profit organization for youth that is designed to improve the social, emotional and vocational competencies of students in a safe, fun and nurturing environment.  It's general program is offered to current 4th through 12th grade students.

1City is formerly known as "BASIC", which stood for Brothers And Sisters Combined Uniternity. The agency was formed in 1986 and incorporated in 1990. It has served more than 2000 youth worldwide!
Program Offerings - Class of 2009

Our general program is available to current 4th through 12th grade students citywide. Registration is normally held in June and September of each year and acceptance is granted on a first come, first served basis.  Generally, there are 12 slots available in each club.  The 2009 program will start in September, 2008.  Groups such as basketball and stepping may meet in the summer.

EXPECTED offerings for the 2008-2009 program include:

BOWLING (Ages 12-15); FASHION DESIGN (Ages 12-18); INSPIRATIONAL DANCE (Ages 9-18); CHEERLEADING (Ages 9-15); VISUAL ARTS (Ages 9-15); FLAG FOOTBALL (Ages 9-15 Boys/Girls); WARRIORS BASKETBALL (Ages 9-11 Boys); DIVAS BASKETBALL (Ages 12-15 Girls); TITANS BASKETBALL (Ages 12-15 Boys); KINGS BASKETBALL (Ages 16-18 Boys); LEGENDS BASKETBALL (Ages 16-18 Girls); TRIBUTE STEP TEAM (Ages 10-13 Boys/Girls); SOULJAHS COMPETITIVE STEP TEAM (Ages 14-18 Boys/Girls); DOUBLE-DUTCH (Ages 9-18); CHOIR (Ages 9-18); DRAMA (Ages 9-18); BAND (Ages 13-18 with own instruments); PAC (Models, Poets, Rappers, Singers - Ages 9-18); SOUL2SOUL COMMUNITY SERVICE CLUB (High School Students); The BRIDGE (Study of Old-School and Hip-Hop Music for grades 9-15); ROS DANCE TEAM (High School Students); SHOWTIME DANCE TEAM (Ages 9-12).

Academic achievement, character building, positive relationships, civic responsibility and leadership are the focal points of this program.  Students enjoy an array of workshops that are designed to help them develop self-esteem, make wise choices and prepare for higher learning.  They will learn how to counteract negative images using the words that they speak.  Though it is a challenging curriculum, it is conducted in a way that is exciting, fun and easy to understand.

Students will also be engaged in various project based sports and arts programs to release their natural energy and allow them to employ skills that they learn in their workshops.  They also learn the value of discipline, teambuilding, sportsmanship and winning thinking and have an opportunity through social action and community service projects, to give back to society!

Interested in Enrolling a Child for the Class of 2009?
Enrollment for the class of 2009 will begin in June, 2008 and will end in September 2008.  There is a Registration Donation of $10 per child (due by the first day of the program).  After that, the program is free.  Priority registration will be given to the Graduating Class of 2008.  If you are interested, please send us an email and ask to be placed on our mailing list.  REGISTRATION CAN BE DONE BY MAIL!  You can request that one be sent to you and you can copy it for multiple children.

Our program receives no local, state or federal funding and must rely on the generosity of the public for survival. We hope that after reviewing our site and possibly speaking with us, you will be inspired to become a financial partner. Even a donation as small as $1.00 per month can help us reach another child.
